HISTORY

To cater to the needs of the industries located in various districts of the State of Tamil Nadu , the Board established three District Environmental Laboratories and six Mobile Environmental Laboratories during 1990 and subsequently after 1996; five Mobile Environmental Laboratories were converted into District Environmental Laboratories. At present there are 10 District Environmental Laboratories in the State.

STAFF STRUCTURE
The District Environmental Laboratories consist of the following staff structure:-

Deputy Manager (Lab)
Environmental Scientist
Field Assistant
Lab attendant

It is organized into two Wings:

Water Wing: Provides Analysis of Water/Sewage/Trade effluents
Air Wing: Conducting of Air Quality Monitoring in factories

FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENTS

The major analytical equipment include Gas Chromatograph, Atomic Absorption Spectrometer, UV-Visible Spectra photometer, Ion analyzer, High Volume Sampler, Stack monitoring Kit, Noise Level Analyzer, Meteorological Monitoring Equipment flue gas Analyser.
